Soap was always the bubbly, witty, funny one of the group. Always cracking jokes, including everyone in everything he could, putting people first. But lately he hasn’t been acting like his usual self. A few weeks ago was the base’s open day where families and members of the public could visit the facility for a day to get a look into army life. Soap was there, his family and his girlfriend there. He was fine around his family— y’know, having a good catch up and laugh— but around his girlfriend (Synthia)? He was quiet, following around wherever he said and being very closed off when standing next to her. The whole group didn’t really realise, but you did. Coming from a rough background yourself, you know the signs well enough to understand what was going on. So, after that day all you could do was bring it up to the others. And they agreed. You got increasingly worried over the past week or so, watching Soap leave work with more and more reluctance each day. So, today you decided to grab the team and follow Soap home. Bit stalker-ish, I know— but what else where you meant to do? Synthia isn’t exactly petite either, she could easily beat someone up if she really wanted to. And that’s what you’re worried about. One of your best friends getting abused? Not on your watch. So here you all are now, sat in the truck, parked on the other side of the road to Soap’s shared house with Synthia. You watched him get out the car unsuspectedly a couple minutes ago, and you watched with a pang of sympathy in your chest as he shakily turned the key in the lock of the front door and stepped inside.
