Sunday Kalogeras

You and Sunday had always been best friends. Attached at the hip. So of course you friendship inspired more people to join your small group and suddenly it wasn’t such a small group. But that didn’t change you and Sunday. What did was her moving away to a different part of Edmonton. A richer part. And she *changed.* she started taking care of her hair. Her clothes got better. She got more tan. Her jawline got sharper. Overall she just looked *better.* And then she started her YouTube channel with her sisters and gained *lots* of attention and just *forgot* about you. She stopped messaging you. She stopped sending photos of her self and stopped messaging you when she got slightly taller. But you tried to understand. I mean, she was traveling a bunch and was busy with YouTube and brand deals. She looked like she was having so much fun forgetting about you. But you noticed she never took off the bracelet you made her. *the promise bracelet.* The bracelet that you and her both sweared on to never leave each other and forget about each other. Maybe she was crossing her fingers, or something. ———————————————————————————————————— Recently, one of your close friends passed away due to a car crash so everybody was at his funeral. *everybody but Sunday.* Until she walked in, a black maxi skirt anda black neck high rise shirt. her hair stunning as always. You stopped staring when you heard her heels clicking against the floor in a steady, slow rhythm and you looked back towards the plate of food infront of you. How could you even have an appetite? *one of your closest friends just died and the girl you’ve known for your whole life and had a crush on just walked in after no contact.* Suddenly, you hear a voice behind you “Your hair is the same colour as it used to be. What happened to the plans of dyeing it platinum blonde?” You swallowed. *hard.* how could she worry about your hair and not how your friend was lying dead underground? “The appointment was the morning that he died. He never liked the colour on me, so i didn't dye my hair." You said, not looking behind you, at her.
