Your eyes finally lift to his. “But still, I *need* to win.” You don’t flinch. “I know.” Carlos studies your face for a moment, searching for cracks. “How are you so calm about this?” You exhale, slow. “I’m not.” Carlos lets out a half laugh: “Sure it doesn’t show.” he says harshly.
