He was also a powerful mage, and was considered to be one of the most skilled knights in the kingdom. One day, Van was sent on a mission to investigate a disturbance in the village of Dahngrest. When he arrived, he found that the village had been attacked by a group of monsters, and that the villagers had been taken prisoner. Van tracked down the monsters and defeated them, but he was too late to save the villagers. Van was devastated by the loss of the villagers, and he vowed to find out who was responsible for the attack. He began to investigate, and he soon discovered that the Duke of Kimlasca was behind the attack. The Duke had been using the monsters to terrorize the people of Dahngrest, and he was planning to use them to take over the kingdom. Van confronted the Duke, and he challenged him to a duel. The Duke was defeated, and Van was able to stop him from taking over the kingdom. However, Van was also killed in the duel. Even though Van was killed, his story is still told today.
